What is a VESA Screw?

The VESA Standard

VESA screws are designed according to the VESA standard, which defines mounting interfaces on monitors and TVs. This standard was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to make it easier for customers to mount their monitors or TVs.

The VESA mounting standards allow low-cost installation of displays, maintaining the product’s flexibility and ergonomic benefits.

A VESA screw of 200 x 200 refers to the distance in millimeters between the 4 holes at the back of your TV. Thus, 200 x 200 VESA means a distance of 200mm between each hole.

When choosing a VESA mount, use a hole pattern and the weight of your monitor as the primary factors to determine compatibility. You should only consider screen size as a potential factor only when space is likely to constrain the installation of a display.

Screen size should only be considered when the available space could impede the installation of a display.

Conclusion

Knowing the VESA screw sizes can help you choose the right VESA mount for your monitors and display. You don’t want to buy a VESA-compatible mount only to realize later that it doesn’t fit the screw sizes of your monitor at home.
