A VESA screw size is the mounting hole pattern found on most computer monitors/ TVs. The VESA screw standard is a set of screw sizes for mounting a TV or monitor to a wall, desk, or other surfaces.
If you have bought a VESA mount before, you should know that VESA screws are available in various sizes, each with specific uses.
Knowing the right VESA screw for your TV or monitor is crucial before buying a VESA mount. If you don’t, you could end up with a mount that doesn’t fit your screen — something that could be avoided!

The VESA Standard
VESA screws are designed according to the VESA standard, which defines mounting interfaces on monitors and TVs. This standard was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to make it easier for customers to mount their monitors or TVs.
The VESA mounting standards allow low-cost installation of displays, maintaining the product’s flexibility and ergonomic benefits.
A VESA screw of 200 x 200 refers to the distance in millimeters between the 4 holes at the back of your TV. Thus, 200 x 200 VESA means a distance of 200mm between each hole.
When choosing a VESA mount, use a hole pattern and the weight of your monitor as the primary factors to determine compatibility. You should only consider screen size as a potential factor only when space is likely to constrain the installation of a display.

Factors to Note Before Choosing a VESA Screw Size
When choosing a VESA screw size, the primary criteria for determining compatibility should be hole pattern and monitor weight.
Screen size should only be considered when the available space could impede the installation of a display.
Knowing the VESA screw sizes can help you choose the right VESA mount for your monitors and display. You don’t want to buy a VESA-compatible mount only to realize later that it doesn’t fit the screw sizes of your monitor at home.
